Past, Present, Future: the Ethics and Governance of Big Biobanks
On the 3 - 5 November 2014, the UK Biobank Ethics and Governance Council (EGC) will mark its 10-year anniversary by hosting a conference in London.
The purpose of the conference is to highlight what lessons can be learnt from establishing the EGC and to identify and discuss upcoming challenges in biobank ethics and governance. Sessions will include: governing access; engaging participants; feedback of results; follow-up through health and related records and data sharing. There will also be sessions dedicated to hearing about the experience of other cohort studies and to discussing how experiences can be shared in the future, drawing on established and emerging international initiatives.
